Tribal and identity politics have created a polarized America. Many Americans no longer believe or adhere to the American values. Yet, the military has remained steadfast and unified in its dedication and emulation of the core American values, values meant to hold America together. The worldly experience that the military affords pay dividends when creating a culturally responsive environment, creating a strong classroom culture, and demonstrating respectfulness towards students. The coaching, teaching, and mentorship potential of military veterans provide an opportunity to serve as role models and to apply their experiences towards building character and trust in their students. Overall, the life experiences, demonstrated commitment to the service, diversity, educational capabilities, and mentorship capabilities of military veterans are a gold vein of potential that needs to be mined by education communities across the country.
